Monday & Tuesday
Over the next 2 days you will work with a partner to create a Poster on one of the following physical features:

- rivers - mountains - deserts - coastlines - peninsulas
- oceans - seas - islands - wetlands
- straits - rainforests - plains - plateaus
The poster should include a title, picture of the physical feature, definition of feature, 3-4 places where that feature can be found in the world and advantages and disadvantages of that feature.

MUSEUM WALK
1. Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of each physical feature.
2. At each physical feature, complete the sentence stem
“ _________________ is similar/different from a ___________________ because…”

Thursday
Today you will complete the YES/BUT Graphic Organizer.
You will determine which physical feature you would establish a civilization near and explain why you would select that location.

Map Skills
We will examine the Natural Regions of the World chart.
Use the Blank World Map to label and shade each of the natural world regions identified in the chart.
Then, create a Plus/Delta chart brainstorming any pros and cons of each region.

When finished, students will read pages 64-75 in the textbook and complete section 2-3.

Students will read the cards and order them to show how they think a civilization starts.
Students share their answers and discuss characteristics of a civilization.

Each student will be responsible for writing a justification in their notebook.

Using the textbook, explore pages 78-89 on Ancient Mesopotamia. Then, complete the assessment on page 89.
Thursday
Adjust or Bust
Students will be presented with 4 scenarios that civilizations may face. Students will complete the What Can They Do graphic organizer to make predictions about how the civilization can react to the problem. Then, students will complete the Adjust or Bust worksheet to read about adaptations people can make to the environment and determine which adaptations are needed in various situations. Students will then discuss their answers and share other ways that people may adapt to their environment.
